Kazakhstan is Central Asia one of the largest furniture consumption and import markets. The local furniture and woodworking industry is highly dependent on imports. Chinese products are generally regarded as the "first choice" by the local market due to their cost-effectiveness advantages. Exhibitions in Kazakhstan this year are intensive: at the FIW (Furniture, Interior Decoration and Woodworking Machinery Exhibition) held in Almaty from June 10 to 12, more than 160 companies from 9 countries participated in the last edition, including 65 Chinese official groups. The Shandong Furniture Association has issued a notice in April to organize member companies to participate in the exhibition uniformly and provide group discounts.

September: Astana trade fair season

From September 16th to 18th, Expo Mebel Astana - Astana Furniture Accessories and Interior Decoration Exhibition will be held at the Korme Exhibition Center (the previous session had about 500 exhibitors and more than 15,000 professional visitors). Driven by Kazakhstan's "import substitution" and urban construction policies,Central Asia buyers are actively looking for Chinese supply chain partners. In addition, the "2026 Zhejiang International Trade (Kazakhstan) Exhibition" that just concluded in early September has 50 high-standard booths in Almaty to connect buyers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries.

How can Qingdao enterprises get on this bus?

It is recommended that Qingdao furniture companies interested in exploring the Kazakhstan market: give priority to participating in exhibitions with Shandong/national-level exhibition groups (subsidy policies are available), focusing on professional exhibitions such as Almaty FIW and Astana Expo Mebel; prepare Russian/English product information and related certifications in advance, and connect Kazakh distribution channels and overseas warehouse resources through associations to achieve the two-step process of "exhibition + landing".
